Baby its cold outside!

It was 13 degrees when I awoke this morning. That is a record in the almost four years we have lived here. It only climbed to 35 degrees, tops. Now, I actually like cold weather, something about snuggling up in warm clothes or in front of a great fire - no doubt with a glass of wine! But things can get a little complicated with the animals when it is really cold. Favorite (translated only) daughter, Sydney is supposed to be in charge of the animal menagerie, but I am sure you know who ends up doing most of it. As expected she did let the horses out of the barn this morning, but somehow forgot to crack the ice that had accumulated in their water basins. Sooooo guess who gets to do that chore and stick her hand in the frozen water to remove the chunks of ice once the solid block is cracked??? Right-o, me!!!! The dogs always like to go to the barn with me, so I usually gather all 3 of them and we make it a little outing of sorts. Sadie, she is the stray favorite daughter found on the side of the road and is afraid of her own shadow. Well Miss Sadie likes to run ahead and see if she can get inside the chicken cage and steal any eggs before I get up there. If she is successful she cracks it and gobbles down the inside. Then the chicken (Boc Boc) joins her in devouring the shell. Cannibal!! The other two dogs are happy to just eat the horse manure! Disgusting, I know.

It is supposed to be cold here for a few more days, I am thinking a Nor-East er became a South-East er. It may even snow on Sunday. Will keep you posted on the weather and other interesting tid bits.
