A heat wave has definitely settled into the farm and its surrounds. It has been in the mid 90s for the last several days with no rain. Too hot to do much of anything, save, perhaps, eating ice cream. Fortunately there is a great little spot where they make their own ice cream every day, and its not too far from here. It is actually a peach orchard, where the peaches have been mouth-watering all summer! The ice cream is pretty darn good too. For you locals it is Thomas' Orchard on 441. My favorite is the lemon custard.
Besides eating ice cream there isn't much happening down on the farm because we are all simply too hot to move. The dogs lay around looking for a bit of shade, or slip into the cool basement for a nap. The chicken has not been laying eggs; too hot! Even the horses are barely moving....just enough to keep their bellies full. The horses and I have lots in common!
