A road by any other name would be much less confusing! There are two very noticeable things about road naming in these parts. One is that a new road will often be named after an existing road, with the simple addition of 'new'. These two roads do not necessarily have to be near each other; often they will cross at some point and then stretch off to opposite parts of the county. If you are familiar with the original road, suddenly you will be on this road in an entirely unrelated part of town. Very confusing! A twist on this naming procedure is to name the new road the exact same name as the old road, but then change the old road's name by adding the word 'old'. I find both of these equally confusing. When you are on Billy Bob Road, how do you know if it really is Billy Bob Road, or if there is a new one and/or an old one that you just haven't come across yet? In which case, how do you ever know where you are? See how problematic this can be? The second noticeable thing about road naming is the names themselves. Priceless.
Here are a few examples: Bunny Hop Ln, Sweetie Johnson Rd, Burger Rd, Canter Bend, Nona Dr, Hopping Rd, Goat Farm Rd, Gober Rd. I can hear the police radio now, "we are leaving Hopping Rd in hot pursuit for Bunny Hop Ln" or "there is a cow loose on Goat Farm Rd, wait, how can that be, must actually be a goat that just looks like a cow". Too funny!
